Activities and Initiatives:
• Stage monthly social rides guided by our experienced ride leaders.
• Offer training through Bicycle NSW for members to become ride leaders.
• Established a Cycling Advisory Committee with Tweed Shire Council to advise on cycling infrastructure and safer cycling.
• Have input into updating the Tweed Shire Bike Plan.
• Established a black spot identification program Shire wide, resulting in cycling signage being erected.
• Coordinating an annual cycling festival – “Ride The Rim – Caldera Cycling Odyssey” for the Tweed Shire, to be held in September.
• Supporting cycling initiatives such as Bike Week, Ride To Work, Ride 2 School and opening of cycle ways.
• Promoting WollumbinBUG by attending community events and encouraging community interaction through participation in the Banana Festival, Murwillumbah Show, and Senior’s Week etc.
• Offering cycling training workshops funded through the Dept of Environment and Climate Change.
• Identifying funding sources.
• Network with other local cycling groups and bike shops.
• Encourage all forms of sustainable living, healthy lifestyles and tourism in the Tweed.
• Promote and investigate cycling tourism in the Tweed.
• Liase with Rail Trail groups.
